Stuck when it comes to finding a spot to get married at that's not just another wedding venue? Here a few of my favorite spots to tie the knot in the Hawkes Bay.
Te Mata Peak
It’s hard to beat Te Mata Peak for an iconic Hawkes Bay spot to get married. With views over the whole of the Bay, it makes for stunning photos! However rather than being overrun by the crowds that are present during summer there is a beautiful old tree and a flat spot of grass just down from the summit which makes a perfect ceremony location.
Also in Te Mata Park is the amazing stunning Redwoods Grove, which is just perfect to hold a ceremony in. There is access via a farm track that can be arranged, otherwise, it's about a half hour walk so it's perfect for an adventurous couple.
Not that many people know it but Napier is home to one of the most significant estuaries on the East Coast and it has a beautiful walkway around it with a number of nooks and crannies that would make for a perfect ceremony spot. It also has an old bridge that is perfect for photos.
White Pine Bush
Half an hour from Napier, White Pine Bush is a flat easy sheltered walk with incredible native bush. Perfect for a secluded and intimate ceremony.
The Bluff Hill Lookout
Overlooking the Port of Napier and out to Gisborne the Bluff Hill Lookout has some serious views and a cute little lookout perfect for a ceremony space.
Always a favourite and for a good reason too, there are many beautiful spots on the Hawkes Bay coastline to choose to have your ceremony at.
If you've hired accomodation, check it out to see if there might be a ceremony spot on site that you can take advantage of. Most accommodation places are happy for you to host your ceremony there as long as you let them know in advance.
Napier has some great spots in the CDB for an urban type of ceremony. Whether it's on the famous art deco Louis Hayes steps at the museum, or taking advantage of one of the seawall murals as a backdrop, you'll be surprise what you can find.
Once again always favourite and its not hard to see why, Napier has some beautiful civic gardens that can all be hired to hold your ceremony at.
We are lucky that a wedding in NZ can literally take place anywhere as long as it has an address. So pick somewhere special or meaningful and your sure to have a great time.
